2019 Supply Chain Leadership Forum
By: Tompkins International Staff
The 15th annual Supply Chain Leadership Forum (SCLF) is being held May 6-8 at the Washington Duke Inn & Golf Club in Durham, North Carolina. This year’s event will feature presentations from industry experts and live demonstrations of best-in-class supply chain technologies.
Chris Sultemeier, former head of logistics for Walmart, will be one of this year’s keynote speakers. During Sultemeier’s 28-year career at the world’s largest retailer, he had operating responsibility for general merchandise, fashion, grocery, Sam's Club, import, and specialty distribution centers. He was also responsible for all domestic and global ocean transportation functions.
Tim Lowe, President of Lowes Foods, will discuss the significance of the grocery industry’s present cycle of disruption. Lowes Foods employs approximately 9,000 people and operates nearly 100 full-service supermarkets. Locally owned and operated, Lowes Foods is truly a homegrown company committed to bringing community back to the table by providing customers with the freshest and most innovative local products from local suppliers.
Walt Coleman, NFL Referee, is another great addition to this year’s SCLF. Coleman is going to take attendees through a day with the NFL during his presentation, Turning Boos into Cheers. He has been applauded by hundreds and booed by millions and has been on television in practically every home in America.
Peter Millar is hosting an exclusive tour of their newest distribution center. Founded in 2001, the Peter Millar line of fine clothing and accessories has become in just a few years the standard bearer for discerning and demanding individuals, on the golf course, in the office, and on the town. Some of the equipment that will been seen on the tour includes multi-level pick module, garment on hanger, high density deck rack storage, drive roller, narrow belt sorters, scanners, work platforms, and spiral chutes.
Siemens will be hosting a live demonstration of original equipment manufacturer digitalization tools, including a multi carrier system with fine motion control and delta pickers, along with digital twin and virtual commissioning on individual screens.
The purpose of the SCLF is to bring supply chain executives together from a wide range of industries to connect, share, and learn together. The topics of discussion relate to supply chain, business strategies, and operations. Supply chain executives from all major industries will be in attendance including retail, consumer products, 3PL, pharmaceutical, and select service providers.
With the many speakers joining us this year, along with the live demonstrations of the newest supply chain technology, this year’s forum is something we can all look forward to.
