Dr. James A. Tompkins is an international authority on designing and implementing end-to-end supply chains. As the founder and CEO of Tompkins Fulfillment Services, his focus over the last several years has been in the areas of digital commerce, unichannel and supply chain reinvention, helping companies connect supply chain processes with the customer journey to increase long-term profitable growth. Jim coined the phrase ‘Sell Everywhere,’ which is the strategy of selling through a wide range of online and offline channels where consumers shop, buy and enjoy products, offering a seamless, end-to-end customer experience. As the CEO he provides leadership for Tompkins Fulfillment Services. With more than 40 years’ experience, he holds an insider's view into what makes great companies even better. Jim has written or contributed to more than 30 books, and has been quoted in hundreds of business and industry magazines. He has spoken at thousands of international engagements and received more than 50 awards for his service to the profession.
Bruce Tompkins boasts more than 30 years of operations experience, from traditional industrial engineering to manufacturing and materials management. He is an expert in manufacturing and distribution processes, lean manufacturing implementation, Six Sigma methodologies, ISO/QS Quality Systems, and benchmarking and gap analysis. Bruce has authored numerous reports and created a variety of presentations that share findings from the Consortium's benchmarking and best practices surveys. He is also frequently quoted in numerous industry publications. Prior to his role at Tompkins Fulfillment Services he was Executive Vice President and Director of Marketing for Tompkins International, and Vice President/General Manager of Operations for Maytag Herrin Laundry Products. He received his B.S. in Industrial and Mechanical Engineering from the University of Illinois and his M.S. in Industrial Engineering and Management from Oklahoma State University.
Baker is a highly accomplished Senior Supply Chain Executive providing strategic vision and leadership to accelerate growth, maximize profitability, optimize inventory leverage, and strengthen the overall performance of the supply chain. Baker specializes in retail supply chain strategy and omnichannel distribution operations. His career to date has been exclusively within Retail, Department Stores and Brands, driving increased revenue and profitability through the design and execution of agile omnichannel Supply Chain strategies with a particular focus on eCommerce growth platforms. He has had international multi-site responsibility over four million sq. ft. of automated facilities supporting over $6B in revenue.
Before joining Tompkins Fulfillment Services Baker worked for Ralph Lauren Corporation in different capacities including Senior Vice President of Supply Chain Operations, Vice President of Wholesale Operations, and Vice President of Retail Operations.
Baker holds a Bachelor of Science in Supply Chain and Logistics from The University of Huddersfield and has also studied at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and the University of Oxford.
Herman is recognized as a highly impactful and transformational sales and marketing executive within the retail, distribution, manufacturing, and supply chain industries. He has worked strategically in partnership with brands and retailers of all sizes to achieve accelerated growth and supply chain optimization.
Prior to joining Tompkins International, Herman was Senior Vice President of Sales and Marketing for XPO Logistics, Supply Chain. He has also served as Vice President of Global Account Management with Flextronics, Vice President of Global Sales at ITT, Interconnect Solutions, and Vice President of North American Semiconductor Marketing at Arrow Electronics. He has obtained a unique and insightful perspective over his vast and accomplished 30-year career.
Herman also speaks publicly on strategic supply chain and direct-to-consumer solutions at many leading industry events. Herman’s passion for helping organizations with complex strategies and solutions is even evident outside of the office as a Board Member for Nussbaum Center for Entrepreneurship, providing executive mentorship and assisting startup companies with their go-to-market strategy and sales messaging. Whether inside or outside of the office, Herman likes guiding smart, healthy growth.
Herman holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from The Ohio State University with a major in Accounting. He has attended advanced management and leadership programs at Harvard University and the ITT Management Institute.
Kaplan has 30 years experience as a CFO with 23 of those years working with public companies. During his career, Kaplan has been directly responsible for closing over $1.4 billion in transactions, including underwritten public offerings (four IPOs), PIPEs, acquisitions and bank financings. As EVP and CFO at Rare Medium Group, Kaplan completed a $186 million underwritten public offering and more than $70 million in private placement funding. Throughout his career as a CFO, Kaplan has been responsible for building and developing corporate finance and administrative staff to handle growth, and he has implemented budgeting and forecasting disciplines to manage growth. During Kaplan's tenure at Clabir Corporation, a conglomerate that owned 37 restaurants and 100 convenience stores, the company brought the popular Klondike™ ice cream bar to the national market and subsequently spun-off Klondike as a separate public company.
Kaplan also has substantial experience implementing and managing successful investor relations campaigns and coordinated securities analyst coverage for a number of public companies. Kaplan has experience in financial leadership, capital raising, mergers and acquisitions, and investor relations for public and emerging-growth companies.
Kaplan holds a Master’s of Business Administration with distinction from the New York University Stern School of Business, where he was elected a charter member of Beta Gamma Sigma (National Business Honor Society), and a Bachelor of Arts from Brown University.
Mr. Goldsmith joins Tompkins Fulfillment Services after serving as the Executive Vice President and Chief Commercial Officer of Americold Logistics where he was responsible for the company’s market strategy, revenue production, and customer solutions for some of the largest food brands. Prior to Americold, Mr. Goldsmith was the Senior Vice President, Business Development for CEVA Logistics, overseeing the development of supply chain solutions for the company's premier client base.
Prior to CEVA, Mr. Goldsmith served as a member of the board of management and Global Chief Information Officer for TNT Logistics, a predecessor company to CEVA. In this capacity, he managed the company's technology suite of applications and services including CEVA Matrix™, a proprietary technology platform that enables increased supply chain efficiencies for customers.
Mr. Goldsmith is a graduate of the University of North Florida where he is currently an advisory board member and a graduate of the Logistics Management Program at The Ohio State University.
Bullard joins Tompkins Fulfillment Services with over 30 years of diversified global supply chain experience with a focus on customer facing roles, as well as strategic planning and execution. Before joining Tompkins Fulfillment Services, Bullard developed, deployed, and oversaw all aspects of Pilot Logistics, a division of Pilot Freight Service; acting as Vice President, Logistics. Prior to founding Pilot Logistics, Bullard was a Senior Manager of Supply Chain at Darden Restaurants, a Manager of Logistics for PepsiCo Food Systems, and Project Manager for FoxMeyer Health, along with extensive and diversified work and personal history. Bullard holds a Bachelor of Science in Psychology, and Minors in English Writing and Accounting from Allegheny College;
Chris Ferrell is the Vice President of Operations Planning at Tompkins Fulfillment Services, with more than 25 years of experience in the Supply Chain industry. Chris specializes in 3PL operations, customer solution design, and outsourced implementations, with an emphasis on service / cost optimization.
Prior to joining Tompkins Fulfillment Services, Chris was a Principal with Tompkins where he was a presenter and lecturer at various supply chain benchmarking related conferences. Over a 17 year period before Tompkins, Chris worked in almost every conceivable link in the supply chain for 17 years; primarily with Kraft Foods. Chris has been involved heavily in the 3PL industry having selected and managed many 3PL transitions and overall implementation projects. He has also worked with 3PLs in optimizing their operations and is well versed in the capabilities and limitations of traditional third-party solutions.
Chris received his B.S. in Logistics & Transportation from the University of Tennessee.
Prior to joining Tompkins Fulfillment Services, Moon was a Principal for Tompkins International, where Scott used his more than twenty (20) years of supply chain and logistics experience to provide practical and strategic solutions for numerous multi-national global supply chain companies. With a broad understanding of the end to end business process, Scott brings his specialties in Demand and Supply Planning, Warehouse Operations, Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Reverse Logistics, and Distribution to help his clients optimize their profit opportunities.
Scott has written several articles on a myriad of supply chain topics. In his latest white paper “Supply Chain Value: Pathway to Efficiency”, he challenges our foundational understanding of the supply chain components to designate holes in our process understanding. He brings his practical, down to earth style and approach to solving complex problems.
Previously, Scott was President, CEO of DCC America, an electronics retail start-up subsidiary of Danske Computer Center, a consultant with Deloitte and KMPG, Vice President of Inventory Control for a 900 store retailer, Director of Planning and Allocation for Victoria’s Secret, Director of Supply Chain for Kidde Fire and Security, and Director of Worldwide Inventory Management for Lenovo have all contributed to his unique perspective on global Supply Chain issues from many disciplines across international boundaries an industry segments.
Scott received his B.S. in Industrial Engineering and Operations Research from Virginia Tech and his Masters of Business Administration from the University of Notre Dame.
Dale Pickett is a Vice President for Tompkins Fulfillment Services. Dale has spent much of his career in distribution network design, warehousing design and operations, warehouse management systems and manufacturing where his practical engineering expertise has helped companies determine the lowest cost solution that meets the business and service requirements for long term success. Dale has modeled networks using multiple tools and designed the resulting warehouse changes and new facilities. He has led many DC implementations for a variety of clients and helped them to achieve significant improvements in cost, performance and service.
He received his B.S. in Engineering from Mississippi State University.
Mike has extensive experience applying technology to improve business operations. He is highly skilled in project management, gap analysis, requirements definition, systems integration, conversion planning, and deployment of large scale supply chain technology projects for both international and domestic operations. His experience includes the integration of warehouse management applications and material handling control systems, including print and apply, routing, and sortation. Mike also has experience with Global Visibility & Event Management, Customer Order Management, Yard Operations, and Supplier Collaboration.
Talley joins Tompkins Fulfillment Services with 20 years of supply chain management, distribution, and transportation experience. Before joining Tompkins Fulfillment Services Talley was a Senior Director with Kuhene + Nagel Integrated Logistics where he spent over 12 years managing complex logistics outsourcing solutions. Talley has also held a variety of logistics and transportation roles with manufacturing organizations and third party logistics providers throughout his career. Holding a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from The University of Tennessee and a Masters of Business Administration from North Carolina State University, all focused in supply chain management disciplines, along with an extensive work history Talley provides Tompkins Fulfillment Services with another key player to help build the organization.
David Lengacher is the Head of Data Science with over 20 years of experience in analytics, modeling, and simulation. He has worked in a diverse array of industries including CPG, manufacturing, pharmaceuticals, and consulting. David has taught executive MBA courses at the University of Maryland and has been published in peer reviewed journals and the Encyclopedia of Business Analytics and Optimization. He holds an MBA from Purdue University. an MS in Industrial Engineering from the University of Florida and is a Six Sigma Master Black Belt.
